This guide provides essential information regarding venues, recommended accommodation, and local amenities to ensure your stay in Santo Domingo is productive and most importantly, ENJOYABLE.

The course is will be split into two venues:

Transportation:

Uber is safe and widely used in Santo Domingo. If anyone would like to coordinate pick up and drop off from the Airport with a private company, please email us at info.powerliftingrd@gmail.com and we can provide options.

Recommended Areas to Stay

To minimize transit time and ensure easy access to the gym (LiftingCo), we strongly recommend staying in the Central Polígono of the city. These sectors offer high density of services, dining, and safety:

  • Naco / Piantini: These are the most central and upscale sectors, putting you within walking distance or a very short drive from the practical sessions at LiftingCo.

  • Serralles / Evaristo Morales/La Esperilla: Adjacent sectors that provide a balance of residential quietness and proximity to major shopping centers.

Accommodation Recommendations

Based on our recent coordination and proximity to the event sites, we recommend the following options:

  1. AirBnBs: We've curated a list of AirBnBs based on their location - you can use these as a guideline of where to stay in case they don’t meet your expectations.

  2. Hotels 

    • Holiday Inn Santo Domingo (Recommended)

      • Located on Av. Abraham Lincoln 856, this hotel is in the heart of the Piantini/Serralles area.

      • Transportation: Approximately 5–10 minutes via Uber to the LiftingCo venue (Naco) and 10–15 minutes to the Estrella de Belén venue (Bella Vista).

    • Radisson Hotel Santo Domingo (Recommended)

      • Located on Av. Presidente González 10, Naco, providing excellent central access.

      • Transportation: Approximately 5–10 minutes via Uber to the LiftingCo venue (Naco) and 10–15 minutes to the Estrella de Belén venue (Bella Vista).

    • Courtyard by Marriott Santo Domingo Piantini

      • Located in Piantini, this is a premium option located directly across from major malls (Blue Mall / Acropolis), offering maximum convenience.

      • Transportation: Approximately 5–10 minutes via Uber to the LiftingCo venue (Naco) and 10–15 minutes to the Estrella de Belén venue (Bella Vista).

    • Homewood Suites by Hilton Santo Domingo

      • Located in Piantini, these are premium options located directly across from major malls (Blue Mall / Acropolis), offering maximum convenience.

      • Transportation: Approximately 5–10 minutes via Uber to the LiftingCo venue (Naco) and 10–15 minutes to the Estrella de Belén venue (Bella Vista).

  1. Shopping Center Dining:

    • ​Blue Mall: Located in Piantini, these malls offer high-end dining, coffee shops, and international brands.

    • Agora Mall: Located on Av. Abraham Lincoln, it is a great spot for local shopping and a variety of food options.

  2. Authentic Dominican Cuisine

    • Adrian Tropical: Malecón location, famous for its classic view of the Caribbean and traditional local food.

    • Buche Perico: Located in the Colonial Zone, offering elevated local cuisine in a beautiful contemporary setting.

    • El Mesón de la Cava: Offers a unique cave-like atmosphere and a varied menu with local influence.

    • Jalao: In the heart of the Colonial Zone, featuring a lively atmosphere with local food and live music.

  3. Tourism and Culture​

    • Colonial Zone/Zona Colonial:  A UNESCO World Heritage site and the oldest permanent European settlement in the Americas. Tip for visitors: In Zona Colonial, all historic sites are within easy 3–7 minute walking distance of each other, so taking one single Uber drop-off at Parque Colón covers the entire district on foot. Distance & Ride Time: ~6.5 – 7.0 km | 15 – 25 mins (up to 35 mins during rush hour). Uber Fare (One-way): DOP 250 – 450 | USD $4 – $7.50

      • Parque Colón (Zona Colonial) — Main historic square, shaded by mahogany trees and surrounded by street musicians and historic architecture.

      • Catedral Primada de América (Zona Colonial) — The first cathedral built in the Americas (1514).
        The first cathedral built in the New World (1514) and the central historic square lined with cobblestone streets, mahogany shade trees, and street musicians.

      • Fortaleza Ozama (Zona Colonial) — Oldest military fortress in the New World with panoramic river views from the tower.

      • Highlights: Oldest military fortress in the Americas, featuring the Torre del Homenaje overlooking the mouth of the Ozama River (a 3-minute walk from Parque Colón).

      • Malecón de Santo Domingo: A waterfront boulevard perfect for a late afternoon walk to view the Caribbean Sea.

      • Los Tres Ojos National Park (Santo Domingo Este) — Limestone cavern network with four clear turquoise freshwater lagoons.

        • Highlights: Open-air limestone cave system with four clear, turquoise-blue freshwater lagoons.

        • Distance & Ride Time: ~10.0 km | 20 – 35 mins (involves crossing the river via Expreso 27 de Febrero / Puente Mella or Duarte)

        • Uber Fare (One-way): DOP 350 – 600 | USD $6 – $10
